「教えを守り行う」Keeping God`s commands
あるクリスチャンの夫婦は伝道のつもりで、隣の家の家族を夕食に招きました。食事の前の祈りに両親は五才の男の子に祈るように言いました。男の子は恥ずかしがり躊躇しました。
母親は「今朝、お父さんが言っていたように祈ればいいのよ。」と言いました。男の子は「神様、今晩は、苦手なお客さんを招いて大変だ。」と祈りました。
人間はアダムの罪、原罪を持って、生まれて来るので、普通、自己中心的になり、へりくだって神の命令を守り行いません。神や他者に従って、命令や教えを守り行うより、自由に生きたいと言う欲求があります。
ヒゼキヤ王はイスラエルの数多い王の中で神様の命令を守った比類なき良き王様でした。彼はすべて父祖ダビデが行なったとおりに、主の目にかなうことを行なった。彼は主に堅くすがって離れることなく、主がモーセに命じられた命令を守った。II列王記18：3,６
ヒゼキヤは真の神への礼拝を復活し奨励しました。彼はその治世の第一年の第一の月に主の宮の戸を開き、これらを修理した。II歴代誌29：3
そして、偶像礼拝を一掃しました。 偶像礼拝を排除する宗教改革を起こした王はヨシアとヒゼキヤの二人だけです。彼は高き所を取り除き、石の柱を打ちこわし、アシェラ像を切り倒し、モーセの作った青銅の蛇を打ち砕いた。II列王記18：4
神の私たち人間に対する願いは罪を悔いて悪行を止め、神を信じて、良い行いをし、栄光から栄光へと主と同じ姿に変えられていくことです。私たちは神の作品であって、良い行ないをするためにキリスト・イエスにあって造られたのです。神は、私たちが良い行ないに歩むように、その良い行ないをもあらかじめ備えてくださったのです。エペソ2:10 神に心から従う人は日々の生活で神の教えを守ります。日曜日に教会に行くだけが神の言葉を守ることではありません。日々の生活で、聖書の言葉を実践することが大事なのです。
人の価値は言葉ではなく行いによります。人前で立派なことを言うのはそれほど難しい事ではありません。政治家が時々非難されるのは、報道陣の前では立派なことをよく言いますが、行いが伴わず、悪行が明るみに出ることがあるからです。こどもたちよ。私たちは、ことばや口先だけで愛することをせず、行ないと真実をもって愛そうではありませんか。Iヨハネ3:18
わたしに向かって、『主よ、主よ。』と言う者がみな天の御国にはいるのではなく、天におられるわたしの父のみこころを行なう者がはいるのです。 マタイ7:21
良い行いをしても迫害され害を受けることもあります。でも、普通は、良い行いをすれば、それは益として、やがて自分に戻ってきます。御言葉を守り行うことは自分の益、祝福になります。まことに、その人は主のおしえを喜びとし、昼も夜もそのおしえを口ずさむ。その人は、水路のそばに植わった木のようだ。時が来ると実がなり、その葉は枯れない。その人は、何をしても栄える。詩篇1:2,3
良い行いをする人は実が残りますが、反対に行いが伴わない口先だけの人は実が残りません。
だから、わたしのこれらのことばを聞いてそれを行なう者はみな、岩の上に自分の家を建てた賢い人に比べることができます。雨が降って洪水が押し寄せ、風が吹いてその家に打ちつけたが、それでも倒れませんでした。岩の上に建てられていたからです。マタイ7:24－27
人間の良し悪しの評価はその人の言葉ではなく行いです。日々何をしているかです。 良い言葉より良い行いの方が勝ります。ベンジャミン・フランクリンヒゼキヤ王は神の教えを守り行いました。聖書の言葉を守り行う者は祝福されます。永遠の命、栄光と、誉と平和があります。時が来ると実がなり、栄えます。
A Christian couple, intending to witness to their neighbours, invited them to a meal. They asked their five-year-old son to pray before they ate. “Just talk like your father did this morning”, his mother encouraged him. The boy prayed as instructed, “Dear God, we have difficult guests this evening.”
We are all born affected by the original sin of Adam so, usually, we are self-centred and do not seek to humbly obey God`s commands. Rather than follow God or anyone else`s directions, we want to be free to do our own thing. King Hezekiah stood out amongst the kings of Israel as one who was good and sought to obey God`s commands. “Hezekiah did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father David had done. He held fast to the Lord and did not stop following Him; he kept the commands the Lord had given Moses.” II Kings 18:3, 6. He encouraged the people to return to the worship of the One True God. “In the first month of the first year of his reign, he opened the doors of the temple of the Lord and repaired them.” II Chronicles 29:3. He wiped out worship of other gods. Hezekiah and Josiah were the only kings who destroyed idol worship and implemented a spiritual revival. “Hezekiah removed the high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles. He broke into pieces the bronze snake Moses had made.” II Kings 18:4.
God`s desire for us is that we would be sorry for the wrong we have done, stop doing wrong, believe God, do the good He wants and be changed to become more and more like Jesus. “For we are God`s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10. Those who truly love God endeavor every day to keep God`s commands. Just coming to church on a Sunday does not mean that we are keeping God`s commands. It is important every day to observe what God has taught us in His Word. We are judged by our actions rather than by our words. It is not so difficult to make great-sounding proclamations before others. The reason that politicians are sometimes criticized is that they make great promises before the media but their actions don`t always line up and they are sometimes caught out doing questionable things. “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and truth.” I John 3:18. Jesus said, “Not everyone who says to me, `Lord, Lord` will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my father in heaven.” Matthew 7:21.
There are times when we are hurt even though we have been doing the right thing. However, generally, when we do good we will eventually reap what we have sown. When we keep God`s commands we will be blessed. “The one whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on His law day and night, that person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither – whatever they do prospers.” Psalm 1:2, 3. A person who does good will reap a harvest but a person whose words and actions do not line up will not be fruitful. “Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” Matthew 7:24-27. Whether a person is good or not is decided by their actions rather than by their words. “Well done is better than well said.” Benjamin Franklin.
King Hezekiah kept God`s commands. God blesses those who keep His laws. Eternal life, peace and reputation will follow. They will reap a harvest in season and will prosper.
