ペテロの躓き Peter's Fall
有る三人の牧師さんたちが喫茶店でコーヒーを飲みながら話していました。
牧師さんAが言いました。「私は信者さんのつまずきにならないようにお酒を止めました。」
牧師さんBが言いました。「私は信者さんのつまずきにならないようにタバコを止めました。」
牧師さんCが言いました。「私は信者さんのつまずきにならないように説教を止めました。」
Three pastors were drinking coffee and chatting. Pastor A: “In order not to be a stumbling block to the people in the church I gave up alcohol.” Pastor B: “I gave up smoking so I would not be a stumbling block.” Pastor C: “I gave up preaching so I would not cause the people to stumble!”
人はいろいろな理由で躓きます。
弟子のペテロは、イエス様が逮捕された後に、自分も敵に逮捕され殺されるかもしれないとの恐れに負け、躓きました。
ペテロは迫害の圧力に屈したのです。
ペテロは、「たとえ全部のものがあなたのゆえにつまずいても、私は決してつまずきません。」と、他の弟子の前で言いました。
しかし、イエス様が言われたとおりにペテロは三度イエス様を知らないと言って躓きました。
ペテロは、幾人かの人々から、「この人はナザレ人イエスと一緒でした。」と言われました。
すると、ペテロは「何を言っているのか、私にはわからない。そんな人は、知らない。」と、鶏が鳴く前に三度イエス・キリストの弟子であることを否定しました。
そして鶏が鳴いた時に、ペテロは、自分の罪を知り、激しく泣きました。マタイ26:69－75
People have different reasons for leaving the church. After Jesus was arrested the disciple, Peter, afraid that he too might be arrested and killed deserted Jesus. He gave in to the fear of persecution.
In front of all the other disciples, Peter declared to Jesus, “Even if all the others fall away, I will not.” Unfortunately, just as He predicted, Peter denied Jesus three times. A number of times, people said to Peter, “You also were with that Nazarene, Jesus.” In response, Peter denied it saying, “I don`t know what you`re talking about.” In this way, Peter denied that he was Jesus` disciple three times before the rooster crowed. When he heard the rooster he realized his sin and wept bitterly. Mathew 26:69-75.
ペテロが躓いたのは自信過剰であったからです。
自分は大丈夫だ、自分に限ってそんなことはあり得ないと過信する時に失敗します。
自信過剰な人は大丈夫だと思うから、油断します。
心の隙を作ります。高ぶりは滅びに先立ちます。
己を過大評価して、己の力を正しく判断できないと墓穴を掘ることになります。
また、期待が大きいと、期待が裏切られた時に、失望し信仰を捨てる人がいます。
イエス様をローマの圧政から解放してくれる政治的指導者と見ていた人は、イエス様に全くその気持ちが無いのを見て失望し、イエス様を見捨てました。
The cause of Peter`s stumbling was his over-confidence. It is when we think we are okay and that we will never be like others that we are most likely to fail. Because we think we are alright we become careless and allow cracks in our defence. Pride comes before a fall. If we over-estimate ourselves and do not know our own limitations it is as though we are digging our own grave.
Also, if we have huge expectations, if those expectations are not met we become discouraged and lose our faith. When people realized that Jesus had no intention of meeting their expectations and delivering them from the oppression of the Roman government they became disillusioned and turned against Him.
また、自分が尊敬していた信仰の指導者が悪いことをするのを見ると、そんな人が信じる神を信じても無駄と言って信仰を捨てる人がいます。
教会の牧師が罪を犯して、教会を辞任するのを見て、自分も信仰を捨てると言う人が後を絶ちません。
「人間は皆、誘惑に負け、罪を犯しやすい存在で有る。」ことを認識していれば簡単に躓きません。
ある信仰者の否定的な面だけを見て、聖書全体の教えを否定し、信仰を捨てるのは愚かな行為です。
リンゴ箱に入っているリンゴのいくつかが腐っているからと言って、全部のリンゴを捨て、これからもうリンゴを食べないと言うのは愚かであるのと同じです。
When a spiritual leader people look up to commits a sin some people think that the God the pastor believes is no good and give up their faith. Some have seen their pastor commit sin and resign so they throw away their faith. If we understand that all human beings are prone to giving in to temptation and sinning we will not be as likely to stumble. It is foolish to look only at the negative aspects of other believers and throw away our faith. It is the same as throwing out the whole box of apples or deciding never to eat apples again just because there are a couple of rotten ones in the box.
ですから、躓くのは自分にも責任があります。
注意して歩けば石などにつまずいて転ぶことはないのです。
躓くとは足の質と書きますから、自分の心の態度の質が良ければ躓きません。
躓かないためには、自信過剰になり、思い上がらないことです。
また人に期待しすぎないことです。
罪深い、不完全な人に目を注ぐのではなく、イエス様を見つめることです。
自分の努力や、意志の力で、信仰生活を歩もうとするのでなく、聖霊の力により頼むことです。
ペテロは聖霊を受けてから、躓くことなく、勇敢に迫害に耐え、死に至るまで忠実に信仰を守り通しました。
If a person gives up their faith, the responsibility is with them as well. If we take care when we are walking we will not trip over a rock and fall. If our heart attitude is right we will not stumble.
In order not to stumble it is important not to over-estimate ourselves and become proud. Also, we should not expect too much of others. Do not look at other sinful, imperfect humans but keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. Do not try to live the walk of faith in your own strength or by your own will but depend on the Holy Spirit.
After he had received the Holy Spirit Peter bravely faced persecution and faithfully kept his faith until the end without stumbling.
