二人の捧げ物 Two Sacrifices
鶏さんと、牛さんと、豚さんが農場主のマクドナルドさんの誕生日プレゼントに何を上げるべきか話し合いました。
鶏さんは「私は卵を1ダース上げます。」と言いました。
牛さんは「私はミルクを４リットルにします。」と言いました。
ところが、豚さんは黙ったままで何も言えませんでした。
そこで、鶏さんが、「簡単でしょう、ベーコンでも、ハムでもいいでしょう。」でも豚さんは、何も言えませんでした。
アダムとエバは子供を産みました。男の子の兄弟で兄はカインと弟はアベルと言う名前でした。
兄のカインは畑仕事をして作物を育てました。弟のアベルは羊を飼う仕事をしました。
カインは、地の作物から主へのささげ物を神様に捧げ、アベルは彼の羊の初子の中から、それも最良のものを、それも自分自身で、持って来て、捧げました。
神様はアベルの捧げものを目にとめられましたが、カイン捧げものには目を留められませんでした。
それで、カインはひどく怒り、顔を伏せました。
そして、ねたんだ兄のカインは弟を野に誘い出して殺してしまいました。創世記4：3‐８
人類の初めの歴史から、殺人が始まるとはなんと悲しいことでしょうか。
アダム、エバの不信仰が自分の息子に及び、悲劇をもたらしました。
自分の犯した罪は子孫にまで影響を及ぼすのです。
神様はなぜ弟のアベルの捧げ物を受け入れ、兄のカイン捧げものを退けたのでしょうか？
神様は人を偏り見るお方ではありません。使徒10：34
それは、この二人の心の態度が異なっていたからです。
神様の目から見てカインは正しい心でささげませんでした。
神様はカインに「あなたが正しく行なったのであれば、受け入れられる。」創世記4：7と言いました。
「アベルは彼の羊の初子の中から、それも最良のものを、それも自分自身で、持って来た。」と書かれていますから、アベルは、この捧げものに気を配り、自分のベストを尽くし、最上の捧げものを捧げました。
誠意、熱意込めた心からの捧げものであったのです。 ところが、カインの捧げものはアベルの物とは対照的に、心が伴わっていなかったのでしょう。
おそらく、義務的に、いやいやながら行い、感謝、喜びの心を持って、ささげなかったから、その捧げものは退けられたのでしょう。
また、アベルが自分で生け贄を持ってきたのとは対照的にカインは誰かに持たせて捧げたのではないでしょうか。
ですから、カインは人任せで、心が伴わない、いい加減な中途半端な気持ちで捧げたのでしょう。
ですから、捧げ物が神様に受け入れられなくても自業自得です。
神様の私たち人間に対する第一番目に大切な戒めは、最善を尽くして神様を愛し神様に仕えることです。 「心を尽くし、思いを尽くし、力を尽くして、主なる神様を愛しなさいさいです。」マタイ22：37 神様は中途半端な態度を嫌います。この態度は、神様に対してだけではなく、人に仕えるときも同様です。
雇用主ならだれでも、一所懸命、心を込めて、力いっぱい働く人を好みます。
精神を集中して、仕事に当たれば、それだけ能率よく、正確に、より優れた、より多くの量の仕事を達成することができるからです。
熱心に神様に人に仕えましょう。
「勤勉(熱心)で、怠らず、霊に燃え、主に仕えなさい。」ローマ12：11
「私を愛する者をわたしは愛す。私を熱心に探すものをわたしは見つける。」箴言8：17
A hen, a cow and a pig were discussing what they could Farmer McDonald for his birthday. The hen said, “I could give him a dozen eggs.” The cow decided, “I will give him 4 litres of milk.” The pig, however, did not say anything. “You could give him bacon or ham,” the hen suggested but still the pig said nothing.
Adam and Eve had children; the older brother was called Cain and the younger brother Abel. Cain worked with the soil and grew crops while Abel looked after the sheep. Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord. But Abel brought some of the fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favour on Abel and his offering, but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favour. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast. Envious, Cain invited his brother to the field where he attacked and killed him. Genesis 4:3-8.
What a shame that murder is included in the beginning of mankind`s history. The lack of faith of Adam and Eve affected their children and resulted in tragedy. The sins that we commit affect our children and grandchildren.
Why was it that God accepted Abel`s offering but rejected Cain`s? Acts 10:34 tells us that God does not show favouritism. It was the difference of attitude that made a difference between the two brothers.
From God`s viewpoint, Cain did not have the right heart attitude when he made his offering. The Bible tells us in Genesis 4:7, “If you do right you will be accepted.” We are told that Abel chose the very best from the firstborn of his flock to offer to God. Abel took great care in his preparation for giving to God and gave his best. He gave sincerely and with his whole heart. Cain`s offering is a complete contrast to the offering Abel gave with all his heart. He probably gave out of a sense of obligation, grudgingly without a feeling of praise and thankfulness so his offering was not accepted. It is possible that whereas Abel prepared the sacrifice himself, Cain got someone else to prepare his offering. We could say that Cain gave a half-hearted, empty offering. So in a way he reaped what he sowed.
The first and most important commandment that God has given us humans is to love God with all our hearts. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Matthew 22:37.
God does not like a half-hearted attitude. This does not apply just to God but also in human relationships. An employer is pleased with workers who work hard, with a good attitude and are enthusiastic. If we concentrate on our work we become more efficient, more productive and more accurate. Let us all serve God wholeheartedly.
“Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervour, serving the Lord.” Romans 12:11.
