Lesson From a Bird 鳥からの教訓

I had just finished the shopping and returned with full shopping bags to the car park. I was alerted to the presence of two little birds, probably sparrows, by the persistent squawking of one of them.

The silent one had obviously been hit by one of the many cars entering or leaving the car park and was lying motionless on the ground. The other one tried to lift up the head of its mate with its beak. Every time a car came near it flew away but came straight back as soon as it was safe, calling out to the inert sparrow on the ground. The distress of the live bird was palpable as it flew back to the other one time after time and tried to raise it up and get a response from it.

私は買い物を終えて、駐車場に止めた車に戻りました。

その時、小さい鳥が、「多分、雀だった」と思いますが、激しく鳴いているのに気が付きました。　

一羽の鳥が駐車場に出入りする車にぶつかり、静かに横になっていました。

そして、一羽の鳥が、くちばしで、横になった鳥の首を起こそうとしていました。

その鳥は、車が来ると飛び発ちますが、また、すぐに、身動きができない鳥を助けに戻ってきます。

その鳥の苦悩を感じ取ることができるぐらい、必死に首を挙げて、鳴いて、何度も助けようとしていました。

It was very touching to see the concern one little “insignificant” sparrow had for another and I was challenged to learn from the sparrow in my relationships with my fellow human beings.

とるに足らない、小さい、一羽の鳥が、これほどまでに、他の鳥にたいして、いたわりの心を持って助けようとする行為はとても感動的でした。

私は、小さな鳥から、同じ人間に対して、思いやりを持つことの大切さを教えられました。

Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you. Ephesians 4:32
