危機から脱出する Overcoming Crises
ある少年が公園のベンチに座って、聖書物語を読んでいました。紅海の水が割れ、そこをイスラエルの民が渡る奇跡を読んで、興奮してハレルヤと叫びました。隣に座っていた無神論者の学者が「何をそんなに興奮してるんだ？」と聞いたので少年が説明しました。学者が「馬鹿だね、君。あれは奇跡でなくただ浅瀬を渡っただけだよ。」それで、少年は静かに読み続けるとまた、「ハレルヤ」と興奮して叫びました。また、「どうしたんだ？」と学者が聞くと、「イスラエルの民を追跡したエジプトの軍勢が、あなたが言った浅瀬で、皆溺れて死にました。」と少年は答えました。
人生には窮地に追い込まれるときがあります。
エジプトを脱出したイスラエルの民はこれでやっと自由になれたと胸を膨らませて旅立ったことでしょう。
ところが、エジプトを出て間もなく紅海まで来た時に、パロの軍勢が馬に率いられた戦車に乗って追跡して来ました。
逃げようとしても前方は海なので前進できません。逃げる所がありません。
モーセに率いられたイスラエルの民は絶対絶命の状況に立たされました。
民は動揺し、パニック状態になったことでしょう。出エジプト14:10-12
窮地に追い込まれても動揺せずに、モーセは民に向かって言いました。
「恐れてはいけない。しっかり立って、きょう、あなたがたのために行なわれる主の救いを見なさい。」
この時にモーセが海に手を指し延ばすと、奇跡が起こりました。
一晩中強い東風で海を退かせ、海を陸地とされた。それで水は分かれた。
強い風が吹いてきて、海を退かせ、水を分けたというのですから、とんでもない奇跡です。
これを目撃した民は全く驚いたことでしょう。
そこで、イスラエル人は海の真中のかわいた地を、進んで行った。水は彼らのために右と左で壁となった。出エジプト 14:13, 22
じっとしていて、そこにとどまれば、エジプトの軍勢に殺されます。
それで、勇気が要ったと思いますが、モーセの言葉を信じて、イスラエルの民は紅海の水が分かれたところを前進しました。
後方からはエジプトの大群が戦車に乗って追跡し、前方は紅海の海で前進できず、逃げる道がふさがれて絶体絶命に追い込まれれば、普通の人でしたら絶望します。
しかし、モーセのように、信仰のある人は窮地に追い込まれても神が必ず助け下さると信じ動揺しません。
「四方八方から苦しめられてもあきらめません，窮地に追い込まれても途方に暮れることはありません。」（コリントII 4:8）
この民の後を追ってエジプト軍も、追いかけて来て、パロの馬も戦車も騎兵も、みな彼らのあとから海の中にはいって行った。…‥‥しかし、モーセが手を海の上に差し伸べたとき、…… 水はもとに戻り、あとを追って海にはいったパロの全軍勢の戦車と騎兵をおおった。残された者はひとりもいなかった。出エジプト 14:13-28
神様の手によってエジプトの大軍は滅ぼされました。
疑う者は敗北しますが、信じる者は勝利します。
なぜなら、神によって生まれた者はみな、世に勝つからです。
私たちの信仰、これこそ、世に打ち勝った勝利です。
世に勝つ者とはだれでしょう。イエスを神の御子と信じる者ではありませんか。Iヨハネ 5:4, 5
人は危機に直面する時、苦難、試練に出会う時、自分の真価が試されます。
試練に立たされても、弱音を吐かない人は、芯が強い人です。
ですから、順調に行っているときに感謝できなければ、困難なときに感謝をするのは無理です。
弱い信仰者は試練に出会うとすぐに挫折します。
風雪で表面がはがれるメッキのようです。
信仰の勇者は純金のように、風雪にあっても美しい光沢を保ち続けます。
大事なのは表面、外観ではなく中身、心です。
たとえ、弱い人であっても神に信頼することで強い人に変えられます。
モーセのように窮地に追い込まれても信仰を持って、奇跡を期待できる人は幸いです。
モーセに導かれた民が紅海を渡ったように、勇気をもって、困難を乗り越えましょう。
神様がともにいて守り導いてくださることを信じて前進しましょう。
信仰こそ勝利の秘訣です。
A young boy was sitting on a park bench reading Bible stories. He was reading the miracle of the parting of the Red Sea and the crossing over of the Israelites and was so moved by it that he shouted, “Hallelujah!” When the learned atheist sitting next to him asked what he was so excited about he explained. The gentleman responded, “Young man, you are crazy. The water was so shallow at that point that of course they could cross over to the other side!” The boy continued reading quietly and then suddenly shouted out excitedly, “Hallelujah!” When asked why he was shouting again he replied, “The Egyptian army who were chasing after the Israelites were all drowned in that shallow water!”
In life, we are often faced by predicaments. The Israelites must have been very relieved to have at last been set free from Egypt. However, soon after leaving Egypt, as they approached the Red Sea, Pharaoh`s army, his horses and chariots, horsemen and troops pursued after them. Even if they wanted to run away they were faced by the Red Sea. There was no place to run to. The Israelites, led by Moses were driven into a corner. They must have been in a state of panic. Exodus 14:10-12.
Even though he was faced with a terrible predicament, Moses was unmoved and encouraged the people saying, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today.” …..Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. Exodus 14:13, 21. When Moses stretched out his hand over the sea a miracle took place. A strong wind blew on the water and divided it into a wall of water. What a miraculous event! The people who witnessed this must have been astounded. “The Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.” Exodus 14:22.
If they had just stayed where they were they would have been destroyed by the Egyptian army. Courage was needed but they believed Moses` words and went ahead over the land which had appeared in the Red Sea.
The mighty Egyptian army in chariots were closing in from behind, the Red Sea lay before them so they were in a bind with no way of escape. Most people in a similar situation would despair. However, a person with faith like Moses will believe that God will come through and they will not be moved.
“We are pressed on every side by troubles, but not crushed and broken. We are perplexed because we don’t know why things happen as they do, but we don’t give up and quit.” II Corinthians 4:8.
The Egyptian army “pursued them and all Pharaoh`s horses and chariots and horsemen followed them into the sea.” Exodus 14:23.
However, when Moses stretched out his hand over the water it returned to its former place and covered the chariots and horsemen, the entire Egyptian army that had followed the Israelites into the sea.
“Not one of them survived.” Exodus 14:13-28.
That day, the Lord saved the Israelites from the hand of the Egyptians.
Those who doubt may miss out but those who believe will have victory. “Everyone born of God has overcome the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” I John 5:4,5.
When a person faces a crisis or meets troubles or trials their true value is revealed. A person who does not whimper when facing trials is strong. A person who does not give thanks when things are going well will not be able to give thanks in times of trouble. Someone whose faith is weak will fold under pressure. It will be like the plating flaking off under pressure.
However, a person with faith will be like pure gold and will retain their sheen even when facing problems. What is in the inside is what is important not what is external. Even though we are weak, if we trust in God we become strong. A person is blessed if they are like Moses and have faith and expect a miracle when they meet a crisis. Let us be like those who followed Moses across the Red Sea and have courage and overcome our trials. May we believe that God, who is always with us, will protect and guide us.
