ゲッセマネの祈り The Prayer in Gethsemane
ある患者は胃の手術をしました。手術後、頭にこぶができたので驚きました。
不思議に思った患者の妻は質問しました。
「なぜ、胃の手術をした後に頭にこぶができたのですか。」
医者が答えました。「それは途中で麻酔が切れ、その痛みは極度に達し、脳にストレスを受け頭にこぶができたのでしょう。」
患者が答えました。「それは、違うよ、余り痛いので私が暴れたら、頭をたたかれ気絶したんだよ。」
A person had a stomach operation. When they came to they were surprised to find a big bump on their head. His wife asked the doctor, “Why after a stomach operation does someone end up with a bump on their head?” The doctor replied. “I guess it was because the anaesthetic stopped working halfway through the operation and the stress of the intense pain caused the bump.” “That`s not right! I could not stand the pain and started struggling so you hit me on the head to make me unconscious again.”
イエス様は、ゲッセマネの園で、十字架にかけられる前に苦しみの祈りをされました。
イエスは弟子たちに、「わたしは悲しみのあまり死ぬほどです。」と言われた後に、‥‥どうぞ、この杯をわたしから取りのけてください。しかし、わたしの願うことではなく、あなたのみこころのままを、なさってください。」 マルコ14:34-36
と祈られました。この杯とは十字架の苦しみを表しています。
In the Garden of Gethsemane, before being put on the cross, Jesus struggled as He prayed. He told the disciples, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death.” He pleaded with God, “Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will but what You will.” Mark 14:34-36. `The cup` is the agony of the Cross.
イエス様は神の子でありましたが、私たちと同じ肉体を所有していましたから、肉体の苦痛を私たちと同じように感じたのです。
肉体的苦痛として、鞭打ちの刑を受けました。
当時の鞭打ちの刑に使われた鞭は、普通三本の皮で作られ、その皮には、金属の破片や、鋭い骨などが付いていました。
39回打たれる刑の執行中に、途中で死ぬものが出るほど恐ろしいものでした。
その後に、自分の体重の二倍ぐらいの重さの荒削りの十字架を肩に担いで、引きずってゴルゴタの丘の処刑場まで、行かなければなりませんでした。
丘の頂上についてから、ローマ兵はイエスの両手、両足に太い釘を打ち、十字架に磔にしました。
その釘の打たれたところで体重を支えることの苦しみは想像を絶するものでしょう。
十字架刑による肉体的苦痛は６時間も続き、その間イエスはこの苦痛にあえぎました。
Jesus is the Son of God but He had the same physical form as us so He felt pain in just the same way as we do.
He was sentenced to be flogged. The whip used for the flogging in those days consisted of three strands of leather to which sharp bits of metal and bone were attached. The prisoner was whipped 39 times and some died before the punishment was over because it was so harsh.
He then had to carry a rough, wooden Cross which was twice His weight on His back to the hill of Golgotha where the execution took place. After arriving at the hill, Roman soldiers would hammer in thick nails into His hands and feet. When the Cross was stood up, the person would have to bear the weight of their body where the nails had been driven in. There is no way we can imagine the degree of pain this must have inflicted. For six hours Jesus had to withstand this excruciating pain.
さらに、精神的な苦痛がありました。自分の愛する弟子たちから裏切られ、見捨てられました。
ペテロに三度『イエスを知らない。』と否定され裏切られました。
ユダには30枚の銀貨のために裏切られました。
処刑場へと最後までついて来た弟子はヨハネ一人だけでした。ヨハネ19：26, 27
また、群衆から見放されました。「十字架だ、十字架につけろ。」ルカ23:21 と叫びます。
嘲笑されました。「あれは他人を救った。もし、神のキリスト、選ばれた者なら、自分を救ってみろ。」
兵士たちも、イエスをあざけり、そばによって来て酢いぶどう酒を差し出し、「ユダヤ人の王なら自分を救え。」と言った。ルカ23:35 36
As well as the physical pain there was the emotional pain. The friends He loved betrayed Him and deserted Him. Three times. Peter said, “I don`t know the man!” Judas betrayed Him for thirty pieces of silver.
John was the only disciple who followed Jesus all the way to the Cross. John 19:26, 27.
The crowds also left Him shouting, “Crucify Him. Crucify Him.” Luke 23:21.
The bystanders mocked Him, “He saved others; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ of God.”
The soldiers too, mocked him, offering him wine vinegar and shouting, “If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself.” Luke 23:35,36.
その上、霊的な苦しみもありました。
罪を犯したことのない、聖い神の子が全人類の汚れ、罪を背負う苦しみに耐えました。
罪を知らない全くきよい人が、全人類の汚れた罪を背負うことは苦痛です。
「キリストは罪を犯したことが無く、その口には何の偽りも見出されませんでした。そして自分から十字架の上で、私したちの罪をその身に負われました。」ペテロ1 2:22, 24 また、父なる神との交わりを絶たれたことは、父からの慰め、助けを断たれることをいみします。
「三時頃、イエスは大声で、わが神、わが神。どうして私をお見捨てになったのですか。」と叫びました。マタイ27:46
イエスは神の子であり予知能力があるので、十字架にかけられる前に、これらの苦しみの一つ一つを映画のスクリーンで見るように見たのです。
しかし、十字架の苦しみ、死を恐れずにそれに向かって突き進みました。
それは、大変な勇気がいったことでしょう。
何でも何か尊いものが生まれるには、目に見えない苦しみ、痛みが隠されているのです。
このイエス様の苦しいゲッセマネの祈りが人類に救いをもたらす元となったのです。
On top of all this, it was a painful time spiritually. The perfect, sinless Son of God had to bear all the pain and suffering of the whole world. For a man who had never known sin to have to bear the sin of the world it must have been extremely agonising.
“He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in His mouth. He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree.” I Peter 2:22,24.
Even God turned His back on Jesus so He could no longer receive comfort and help from His Father.
About 3pm, He called out “My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me.” Matthew 27:46.
Jesus, the Son of God, knew in advance the pain and agony of the Cross. Even so, He did not fear the pain and suffering of the Cross but walked boldly towards it. He must have had great courage. Anything worthwhile often has a hidden cost and pain.
This prayer of Jesus in Gethsemane brought salvation to the world.
